LIVINGSTON, Ala. – Nationally ranked No. 10 Alabama Huntsville capitalized on 12 hits and six West Alabama errors to defeat the Tigers 11-0 in game three of the Gulf South Conference series Sunday at the UWA Softball Complex.

After splitting the doubleheader on Saturday, UAH won the series to improve to 37-12 overall and 23-8 in the GSC. With only six spots available for the conference tournament, West Alabama ends its season 20-26 overall and 11-21 in seventh place in the league.

The Chargers posted runs in four out of the five innings, with four runs in the second and five runs in the fifth. Brianna Sullivan tallied the only extra base hit for UAH with a two run double in the fifth inning. She finished 3-for-4 at the plate with four runs and three total RBI.

Sullivan along with Kaitlyn Bannister led in base-running with two stolen bases each. They led the Chargers to eight stolen bases on the day.

The Tigers finished with three hits split between
Lacey Santiago,
Treasure Rodriguez and
Scarlett Wright. Wright's hit gave her 101 in her four year career at UWA, as she and four other fellow seniors,
Miriah Chavez,
Lydia North,
Jordyn Whiddon and
Alli Hall completed their final softball series as Tigers.

"It's a tough way to go out with five graduating seniors that played their last ball games today," said UWA head coach
Will Atkinson.

"I have been coaching for 18 years and this is arguably one of the best ball clubs I have had the privilege of being able to work with, and I don't just mean talent. We have great individuals who were very much a team all the way until the end. These seniors had outstanding careers and each one of them will go on to do something awesome.

Emily Glover (17-10) held the Tigers to three hits and struck out two to add the win in the circle.
Alli Hall (9-18) pitched through four innings, allowing eight earned runs on 12 hits to take the loss.

Alabama Huntsville will advance to the GSC Tournament as the second seed. The tournament, hosted by the first seed and the top team in the nation Valdosta State on April 30 through May 2

Although the 2015 season ends for West Alabama, the future remains bright for the Tigers as they begin to prepare for 2016. Â Â Â Â

"Looking forward, we return eight and have signed 13 new folks," Atkinson said.

"We will prepare in the offseason and will have a chance in February to play softball again. We're just going to do the things now to start getting ready for the future. This team has grown really close together and I am going to miss our seniors tremendously. I look forward to seeing their success in the future as well." Â Â
