COLUMBUS, Ga. – It took eight extra minutes for nationally ranked No. 21 Columbus State to defeat West Alabama women's soccer 1-0 in overtime in non-conference action on Tuesday.
Nicole Corcione scored the game-winning goal on a header off of a pass by Andi Larese in the 98
th minute. It was the first goal scored on the Tigers since Lincoln Memorial's game-winner in double-overtime on Sept. 4, snapping 368 consecutive shutout minutes by the defense.
Columbus State improves to 4-2-1 overall. West Alabama dips to 3-2.
The UWA defense withstood 24 shots by the Cougars through regulation play, while the offense managed only two shots throughout the match.

Issy Foster (3-2) made nine saves before allowing her fifth goal of the season. Maylyn Parsons (3-2-1) had to make just one save to take the win.
Columbus State did not allow a single shot by West Alabama in the first half until
Chelsea Commings posted the only shot on frame by the Tigers in the second half.
Kirsten Reilly added another shot in the same period. Shelby Rolling led CSU with 3-of-6 shots on goal.
"We are very proud of the ladies heart and desire that they showed tonight," said UWA head coach
Graeme Orr.
"Columbus State are one of the best coached teams in the nation and for coach Entlich to praise our team's defending tonight speaks volumes for our performance. Although we lost, the team is still positive and proud of their effort. I can tell they are buzzing to play two major conference matches this weekend."
West Alabama women's soccer will return to Gulf South Conference action on Friday when they travel to Cleveland, Miss. to take on Delta State. Kickoff is set for 1:30 p.m.
