Lady Flames Deal Tigers Second GSC Loss

CLEVELAND, Tenn. – Kinsey Cichowitz collected a hat trick with goals in the 18th, 59thand 80th minutes as Lee University handed West Alabama women's soccer its second Gulf South Conference loss, defeating the Tigers 6-0 at the Lee Soccer Field on Friday.

The Flames improve to 9-2-1 on the season, moving to 6-1-0 in conference play. The Tigers fall to 7-5-1 overall, dropping to 5-2-1 in the league.

Lauren Peters opened up the game in the third minute, placing a pass from Summer Lanter into the back of the net from the wing, giving the Flames a 1-0 lead.

Cichowitz netted her first-of-three scores on the night to improve LU's lead to 2-0 on an assist from Lanter. Chicowitz picked up her second goal on an assist from McKenzie Bricker, placing into the upper corner to put the Flames ahead 3-0 before the half.

Peters turned in her second score of the match, putting a header past the keeper off a corner kick from Bricker, giving LU a 4-0 advantage in the 73rd minute.

Cichowitz completed her hat trick on a near identical goal, playing a corner kick from Bricker with a header into the Tiger net for the Flames' fifth score of the night.

Lanter added a goal to her two assists, scoring from 15 yards out of the corner on a long throw in from Carly Smoltz.

Haley Gribbler (6-2-1) earned the win, making four saves on 10 shots faced before leaving the game in 72nd minute. Issy Foster (7-5-1) totaled four saves on 23 shots faced in the loss.

West Alabama will return to Tiger Stadium for a GSC contest against Shorter on Sunday. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m.
