COLUMBUS, Ga. –
Chelsea Commings extended her perfect shot-on-goal percentage into the 2016 season, netting the game-winning goal on her only shot of the match as West Alabama women's soccer defeated Eckerd College 1-0 at the CSU Collegiate Invitational on Friday.
The Tigers begin the season 1-0, while Eckerd falls to 1-1 on the year.
"We showed great character today to keep going for the whole 90 minutes," said UWA head coach
Graeme Orr. "Of course, we have areas to improve and our match fitness will develop, but I'm very proud of continuing to be brave on the ball, and I think we got the reward with Chelsea's goal. Sunday will be a tough test. It's a short recovery time, so the challenge now is to refuel, review and be ready come kick off."
