Tigers claims 3-0 senior night victory

LIVINGSTON, Ala. –  Two first half goals were all the West Alabama Tigers needed, but the home team scored another in the second half to claim a 3-0 victory over the Union Bulldogs in a Gulf South Conference Women's Soccer match Friday night in Tiger Stadium.
 
UWA moves to 6-6 overall and 4-5 in GSC play. Union drops to 3-8 and 3-7 in the conference.
 
Marie Dreezen scored her team leading seventh goal of the season to get the Tigers on the board just 4:11 into the match off an assist from Anele Komani. TeMia Pride broke free on an attack for her fifth goal of the year to put UWA up 2-0 with 21:21 passed.
 
Then in the second half, Komani found the back of the net off an assist from Chelsea Commings at the 80:10 to put UWA up 3-0. The goal was Komani's fourth on the season.
 
The Tigers outshot Union 12-9 with Pride taking a perfect 4-for-4 shot-on-goal performance against the Bulldogs. Jenni Aarniva was impressive in the net with five saves.
 
Prior to the game, West Alabama honored its five seniors as Dreezen, Commings, Nina Coleman, Janire Leceaga and Taylor Brackin were all recognized for their contributions to the program during their time in the Red and White.

UWA returns to action Sunday afternoon in Tiger Stadium hosting Christian Brothers at 1 p.m. Union travels to Alabama-Huntsville on Oct. 15.
