LAST MEETING
West Alabama extended its winning streak for four games by defeating No. 19 Florida Tech, 45-35, at Tiger Stadium. UWA quarterback Austin Grammer connected with receiver Corey Davis 13 times for 144 yards and three touchdowns. Donta Armstrong caught 10 passes, one for a score.
 
POLL WATCHING
West Alabama is ranked 18th in this week's AFCA national poll and 13th in the D2Football poll. The Tigers were the biggest movers in this week's AFCA poll, climbing five spots.
 
DEJA VU
Florida Tech came into last year's game against UWA leading the GSC in defense. The 2017 version of the Panthers also leads the way in total defense, giving up just 249.9 yards per game. West Alabama managed 504 total yards against the Panther defense a year ago.
 
DAYLIGHT
The game at Florida Tech is the first day game for the Tigers in 2017 that will likely both start and end in daylight. Technically, UWA is 1-0 in day games after winning last week's 4 p.m. start over West Georgia. The Tigers do not play at night again this season.
 
VERSUS RANKED OPPONENTS
West Alabama is 3-0 this season against nationally ranked teams, defeating North Alabama and Delta State on the road and West Georgia at home.
 
KEEPING SCORE
The UWA offense leads the Gulf South Conference in both scoring (41.5) and touchdowns scored (38). Florida Tech allows 18.9 points per game.
 
REGION RANKINGS
The first edition of the NCAA Super Region 2 rankings will be released next week. The Division II Playoffs are determined by these rankings alone. Seven teams from region 2 will earn a berth.

The UWA at FIT game is the first of two straight for the Tigers as the Florida's Space Coast GSC Game of the Week. The Tigers host West Florida next week in the second ESPN3 exposure for UWA.
 
COACH G TIED FOR FOURTH
Brett Gilliland comes into the FIT game tied for fourth on the UWA all-time wins list with 25. A victory at FIT would tie Gilliland for third all-time with Bobby Wallace, who was 26-30 from 2006-10. He needs seven wins to become the all-time winningest coach in UWA football history. Frank North won 31 games from 1979-84 to hold that record.
 
SOMETHING'S GOT TO GIVE
West Alabama comes into the game with the top passing offense in the GSC at 282.0 yard per game. Florida Tech has the league's top passing defense, allowing just 128.6.
 
SACK 'EM UP
West Alabama is second in the GSC in quarterback sacks with 21 and the Tiger offensive line is also second in the league in sacks allowed with just eight.
 
FACING TOP RUNNERS
For the second time in three weeks the UWA defense will be facing the top rusher in the GSC. The Tigers managed to limit Delta State's Chris Robinson to just 16 yards on 12 carries. FIT's Antwuan Haynes comes into the game averaging 108.7 yards per game.
 
HARRY STILL ON TOP
UWA quarterback Harry Satterwhite still leads the GSC in passing (255.4) and total offense (258.6).

Tiger WR Donta Armstrong's 35 catches leads the GSC. TE Qua Boyd is tied for second with 31.
