Dreezen with second hat trick of season in 5-2 victory over Shorter

ROME, Ga. – Graduate Student Marie Dreezen started last week with a hat trick and has begun this road trip with another as the West Alabama Tigers claimed a 5-2 victory over the Shorter Hawks in Gulf South Conference Women's Soccer action.
 
UWA improves to 8-6 overall and 7-5 in the GSC while Shorter falls to 2-12-1 and 1-11 in the conference.
 
The native of Mortsel, Belgium scored the first goal of the day at the 14:45 mark on a penalty kick. Dreezen later found the back of the net on two unassisted goals at 27:11 mark and with 87:59 passed to run her season total to 10 goals.
 
TeMia Pride scored two goals of her own with the first coming off an assist from Chelsea Commings at the 18:15 mark and then once more at 83:31 with an assist from Ellie McKenzie. The sophomore from Huntsville, Ala. now sits second on the team with eight goals on the season.
 
The Tigers outshot Shorter 20-5 with the shot-on-goal margin sitting at 10-3 in favor of UWA.
 
Ashley Keller scored both goals for Shorter which were her first two goals of the season.
 
UWA, winners of five straight matches, returns to action Sunday on the road in Cleveland, Tenn. against Lee University. Shorter hosts Alabama-Huntsville on Oct. 22.
