Tigers close regular season with strong 3-0 win over UAH

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The West Alabama Tigers traveled to face the University of Alabama in Huntsville Chargers and rode a strong effort to a 3-0 Gulf South Conference victory in the regular season finale.
 
UWA improves to 9-7 overall and 7-6 in the GSC while UAH falls to 6-11 and 4-10 to finish outside of the top eight and out of GSC Tournament contention.
 
Ellie McKenzie scored her second goal of the season at the 15:34 mark and then assisted on a goal to Marie Dreezen with 45:57 passed to put the Tigers 2-0. Dreezen's goal was her 11th on the season, which sits at No. 2 in the conference behind North Alabama's Shelby Wall who has 13.
 
At the 47:48 mark, TeMia Pride capped the UWA scoring with her ninth goal of the year of an assist from Taylor Brackin to give the Tigers the 3-0 final lead.
 
The Tigers out shot UAH 15-7 with Dreezen going 2-for-2 with shots-on-goal. Megan McGettigan and McKenzie both took three shots.
 
UWA enters the GSC Women's Soccer Tournament as the seventh seed and will travel to Clinton, Miss. and face second seeded Mississippi College on Oct. 31 at Noon. The Tigers dropped their regular season matchup to the Choctaws 1-0 on the road on Sept. 8.
