Embry Riddle Drops Tiger Women to 0-2

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Embry-Riddle took advantage of 24 West Alabama turnovers and Nicole Tucker had a double-double on the way to a 59-45 women's college basketball victory over West Alabama Saturday in the annual Sunshine State Conference-Gulf South Conference Challenge.
 
Embry-Riddle improved to 2-0 with the win. West Alabama dipped to 0-2.
 
Tucker had 11 points and 11 rebounds for the Eagles. Tara Field scored 14 points to lead Embry-Riddle, while also collecting nine rebounds. Sabrina Whiting chipped in 11 points.
 
Embry-Riddle shot just 31 percent from the floor, but made nine three-pointers (34 attempts) and recorded 12 steals. West Alabama shot 36 percent from the field, but was just 1-of-8 from behind the three-point arc. The Tigers are 1-for-18 on three point attempts in the first two games this season.
 
Tazsa Garrett-Hammett led West Alabama scoring with 13 points while grabbing eight rebounds. J'Nyiah Daniels had 10 points and four steals and Chloe Culpepper collected six rebounds.
 
The Eagles scored 19 points off UWA turnovers, while West Alabama managed just two assists in the game.
 
The Tigers open the home portion of their schedule at Pruitt Hall Tuesday against Oakwood University. Tipoff is set for 5 p.m. Embrey-Riddle plays at Palm Beach Atlantic on Wednesday.
