Embry-Riddle Defeats Tigers Again

FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Tara Fields scored 30 points to lead Embry-Riddle to a 77-61 women's college basketball victory over West Alabama Saturday on the final day of the NSU Thanksgiving Classic at Rick Case Arena.
 
The win was the second in 14 days for the Eagles over the Tigers. Embry-Riddle defeated UWA, 59-45, on Nov. 11 in the Regional Tipoff Challenge in St. Petersburg, Florida.
 
Embry-Riddle remained unbeaten at 6-0. West Alabama dropped to 2-4.
 
Tazsa Garrett-Hammett recorded a double-double for the Tigers in the loss, scoring 21 points and collecting 10 rebounds. Garrett-Hammett converted 9-of-12 field goal attempts.
 
Kim Parrish chipped in 12 points for West Alabama, who shot 39 percent from the floor. Embry-Riddle converted 53 percent from the field, making 32-of-60 field goal attempts. West Alabama won the rebounding battle 37-32.
 
Nicole Tucker chipped in 17 points for Embry-Riddle, while Laura Ellenberger dished out 11 assists.
 
The two teams combined for 38 turnovers, with the Tigers scoring 27 points off 21 Eagle miscues and Embry-Riddle scoring 20 off 17 Tiger turnovers.
 
West Alabama returns to action Thursday, opening Gulf South Conference play by hosting North Alabama. Embry-Riddle travels to Rollins on Wednesday.
