West Alabama is 10-2 after a 27-20 win over Delta State in Round 2 of the Playoffs.

West Florida is 9-3 after defeating West Georgia, 17-14, in the second round of the playoffs last weekend.

Brett Gilliland is 29-16 in his fourth season at UWA, his fourth as a head coach. Pete Shinnick is 14-9 in his second year at UWF, 117-55 in his 16th year as a college head coach.

EARLIER THIS SEASON
This is the second meeting of the year between these two GSC rivals. West Alabama defeated the Argonauts, 35-18, back on Oct. 28 at Tiger Stadium.
 
HARRY AND HILL TOP 10
UWA quarterback Harry Satterwhite has been voted as one of the top 10 national finalists for the 2017 Harlon Hill Trophy, which signifies the top player in NCAA Division II football. Satterwhite is one of two GSC players to make the final 10. UWG RB Devontae Jackson is the other.
 
FIRST TIME SINCE 2012
This marks UWA's first time on the playoffs since the 2012 season, also the last time the Tigers won an outright GSC championship.
 
10 WINS
This is just the third time in the history of the program that UWA has won 10 games. The 1975 team won 10 and the 1971 NAIA National Champions won 11.
 
SINGLE SEASON COMPLETIONS
Tiger QB Harry Satterwhite shattered the UWA single season record for completions with 25 last week, giving him 303 for the year. Current Tiger head coach Brett Gilliland held the record with 280 in 2002.
 
NEEDS 117 TO PASS DEON
Harry Satterwhite needs just 117 yards passing against West Florida to pass current UWA running backs coach Deon Williams for the single season passing yards record. Williams passed for 3,392 yards in 2010.
 
DONTA CLIMBS TO SECOND IN HALF THE TIME
UWA receiver Donta Armstrong now has 172 career receptions, tied for second on the UWA all-time list with Matt Carman (1990-93). Gerald Worsham (2008-11) holds that record with 241 receptions. It should be noted that Armstrong is finishing his second season, while Worsham and Carman both played four years for the Tigers.
 
NOT SUPERSTITIOUS … BUT LET'S STAY IN THE BLACK
West Alabama is 9-0 this season when wearing the black pants donating to the program by New England Patriots cornerback and former Tiger Malcolm Butler.

Lakenderic Thomas has rushed for 1,732 yards over the last two seasons, moving him past Tony Truelove (1982-85) into eighth all-time at UWA.
 
DONTA 4TH ON ALL-TIME RECEPTION LIST
In less than two full seasons, Donta Armstrong has moved to fourth on the UWA career receptions list with 166.  Gerald Worsham (08-11) leads the list with 241. Armstrong's 68 receptions and 670 yards currently leads the GSC. Armstrong needs three catches to move past Gerald Gales (2001-03) into third.
 
COACH G TIED FOR SECOND ALL-TIME
Brett Gilliland comes into the game tied for second with Jim King on the UWA all-time wins list with 29 (see chart to right). Gilliland needs three wins to become the all-time winningest coach in UWA football history.
 
WE WILL TAKE THREE
West Alabama's 17 field goals made is a new school single season record. The previous record was 13, held by four different teams, the last being 1997.
 
YOU COMPLETE ME
The Tigers have also set a program single season record for pass completions with 309. The previous record was 294 in 1993.
 
A DEFENSIVE PLACE TO BE
Tiger linebacker Terry Samuels is the eighth player in UWA history to earn GSC defensive player of the year honors. LB Ken Hutchinson won it in 1972, DE Adrian Gant in 1973, FS Stanley King in 1975, NG Willie Carmon in 1980, DT Charles Martin in 1982, NG Leonard Jackson in 1983, LB Deon Lacey in 2011 and DE Ridge Wilson in 2012.
