Northwood Deals Tigers Second Volleyball Loss of the Day

CANTON, Ohio – Northwood University handed West Alabama its second volleyball loss of the day by defeating the Tigers, 3-1, Friday at the Volleyball Hall of Fame City Challenge. UWA dropped a 2-0 decision earlier Friday to Malone University.
 
West Alabama dropped to 0-2 with the loss. Northwood improved to 2-0. Both teams continue play in the tournament on Saturday.
 
The Timberwolves won the opening two sets by 25-15 and 25-22 margins before West Alabama claimed a third set win, 25-19. Northwood put the match away with a 25-16 fourth-set win.
 
Taylin McCarver had a match-high 15 kills for West Alabama, followed by Briana Sandifer with nine. Carson Rutherford had 11 kills to lead Northwood, followed by Meredith Collins and Sydney Greulich with nine apiece.
 
Hailey Jones had 35 assists for NU and Kassie Till dished out 22 for West Alabama. McKaidan Moore recorded 18 digs and a pair of service aces for the Tigers.
 
West Alabama concludes play in the tournament by facing Mercyhurst at 1 p.m. Saturday and the University of Charleston at 6 p.m.
