Tiger Volleyball Heads to UNA Classic

FLORENCE, Ala. – The University of West Alabama volleyball team hits the road for the third consecutive weekend when the Tigers play in the UNA Volleyball Classic Friday and Saturday. The two-day event is hosted by the University of North Alabama.

West Alabama comes into the tournament with a 4-4 record without the benefit of playing a match at the friendly confines of Pruitt Hall Gym on the UWA campus in Livingston. The first home match of the season is Tuesday at 6 p.m. against Miles College.

"We are a young team, but I believe we have an opportunity to be a good team," Tiger coach Alexis Meeks said. "I have been encouraged with the way this team has handled eight straight matches away from home, but the test doesn't get any easier at the UNA tournament."

West Alabama opens play in the UNA Classic by facing Tuskegee (0-6) at 12:30 p.m. at Flowers Hall, where all matches will be held. The Tigers complete Friday play against Union (6-2) at 7 p.m. Saturday's matchups include Dillard (8-3) at 1 p.m. and North Alabama (7-2) at 7 p.m.

Tickets are $5 per day. Children 5 and under, UNA students and military personnel with valid ID are free. Download a printable schedule here. The tournament home page on the UNA Athletics website can be accessed here.
