THE SERIES
This is the 71st meeting between the Tigers and the Lions. North Alabama leads the series 52-17-1.
 
WEST ALABAMA
West Alabama is 2-1 after a 42-13 victory over Mississippi College in the GSC opener for both teams.
 
NORTH ALABAMA
North Alabama is 1-1 after winning at Valdosta State, 30-24, in the GSC opener for both teams.
 
THE COACHES
Brett Gilliland is 21-15 in his fourth season at UWA, his fourth as a head coach. Chris Willis is 1-1 in his first year as UNA's head coach, his first as a college head coach.

SATTERWHITE LEADING GSC
UWA quarterback Harry Satterwhite leads the Gulf South conference in completions (91), attempts (127), completion percentage (71.7) and yards per game (287.3).
 
TIGERS AT BRALY STADIUM
West Alabama has won just six times at Braly Stadium since the series began in 1949. Tiger wins in Florence came in 1949, 1971, 1975, 1981, 1987 and in 2009. The 2009 win was a 31-28 UWA victory in a game that took four overtimes to be decided.
 
7 OF 10 FOR LIONS
North Alabama has won four straight and seven of the last 10 in the series that began in 1949.

North Alabama is ranked No. 10 in this week's American Football Coaches Association Division II Poll. West Alabama has yet to receive a vote in the poll this season.
 
LARGEST MARGINS
West Alabama's largest margin of victory in the series came in 1971 when the Tigers won 31-0. UNA's largest margin of victory came in 2005, a 76-14 Lion win.
 
ARMSTRONG HAS 111 IN 14
Donta Armstrong's eight receptions versus Mississippi College last week gives him 111 in his 14-game UWA career, an average of 7.9 receptions per game.
 
DONTA TOPS LEAGUE
Donta Armstrong leads the GSC receptions (20), touchdown receptions (3) and receiving yards (317).
 
DON'T FORGET QUA
Tigers tight end Qua Boyd is second in the GSC in receptions with 18 of 189 yards.
 
TOP THREE SCORERS
West Alabama has the top three scorers in the GSC, with kicker Colin Douglas leading the way with 27 points, 9.0 per game, off four field goals and 15 extra points. Rashaad Lee and Donta Armstrong's four touchdowns have them second at 24 (8.0 pg).
 
HIBBLER AND SAMUEL
Defensive back Ken Hibbler and linebacker Terry Samuel are tied for third in the GSC with 23 total tackles after three games. Hibbler's 19 solo stops is tops in the league.

The UWA defense leads the league in fourth down conversions allowed. Three opponents are just 1-for-8 in fourth down attempts.
 
SACK LITE
West Alabama and North Alabama are living around the GSC cellar in sacks, with the Tigers having just two in three games and the Lions one in two contests.

11 MORE FOR COACH G
Coach Brett Gilliland is 21-15 since taking over the Tiger program in 2014. Gilliland needs just 11 wins to become the all-time winningest coach in UWA football history. Frank North won 31 games from 1979-84 to hold that record. Micky Andrews, who won the school's only national title in 1971, won 75 percent of his games (23-7-2) from 1970-72. A win at UNA would tie him with James Garner (1960-66) for seventh with 22.
