Win Over Charleston Gives Tigers Two Saturday Victories

CANTON, Ohio – The West Alabama volleyball team evened its record at 2-2 with a 4-1 victory over the University of Charleston (W.Va.) Saturday to close out play in the Volleyball Hall of Fame City Challenge at Osborne Hall.
 
The Tigers lost the first set to the Golden Eagles, 25-23, then roared back to capture the next three, 25-21, 25-23 and 25-22. UC dropped to 1-3 with the loss.
 
Taylin McCarver had 14 kills as the Tigers recorded a .183 hitting percentage for the match. Briana Sandifer followed up with 11 kills and 14 digs. McCarver had just two attack errors for a .375 hitting percentage.
 
Kassie Till and Jordyn Beans recorded 25 and 19 assists, respectively. Alex Fueling had 20 digs to pace UWA in that category.
 
The Tigers rang up 19 blocks, 18 assisted, led by Sandifer with one block solo and four block assists. Jaime Lancellot chipped in five block assists.
 
Carly Granger led Charleston with 13 kills and a .393 attack percentage. The Tigers limited UC to a .101 attack percentage.
 
West Alabama returns to the court for a pair of matches on Friday in the 2017 Westminster Volleyball Invitational in Salt Lake City, Utah. UWA will face Malone University for the second time this season at 11 a.m. on Friday and then play hosting Westminster College at 3 p.m. Both matches are set to be played at the Behnken Field House.
