THE SERIES
This is the 36th meeting between the Tigers and the Wolves. UWG leads the series 20-15.
 
LAST DOZEN
West Alabama has won nine of the last 12 meetings between the Tigers and Wolves.
 
WEST ALABAMA
West Alabama is 5-2 overall, 2-2 in GSC play, after beating Delta State last week.
 
WEST GEORGIA
West Georgia is 7-0  overall, 4-0 in GSC play, after winning a top 10 battle at West Florida last Saturday.
 
THE COACHES
Brett Gilliland is 34-19 in his fifth season at UWA, his fifth as a head coach. David Dean is 16-4 in his second year at West Georgia, 95-31 in his 11th year as a head coach.

AGAINST RANKED TEAMS
West Alabama faced No. 3 West Georgia this week in its second game of the season against a nationally ranked team. The Tigers are 0-1 against teams in the top 25, losing to Valdosta State in week three.
 
BACK TO BACK HOMECOMINGS
West Alabama, the defending Gulf South Conference champion, will serve as Homecoming guests for West Georgia this week. The Tigers then return home to host Florida Tech for UWA Homecoming festivities on Oct. 27.
 
TOP TWO RUSHING DEFENSES
The top two rushing defenses in the GSC will be on display at University Stadium on Saturday. West Alabama leads the league in rushing yards allowed at just 104.3. West Georgia is second at 114.1.
 
LAST TIME
Harry Satterwhite and Tra Fletcher connected on a 34-yard pass and run with 3:22 left to play, completing a 34-31 come-from-behind West Alabama victory over West Georgia in a battle of two nationally ranked teams on Oct. 14, 2017 at Tiger Stadium in Livingston. Both teams rolled up more than 400 total yards in the game.
 
ALL PURPOSE TOP THREE
The Gulf South Conference's top three players in all-purpose yards will be on display in this game. West Georgia's Devontae Jackson leads the league with 141.4 yards per game, followed by UWA's Christian Saulsberry with 135.4 and UWG's Malik Henry at 105.8.
 
IN CARROLLTON UNDER GILLILAND
This is the third trip to Carrollton to face the Wolves for UWA under head coach Brett Gilliland. The Tigers have split the previous two meetings, winning in 2016 and losing in 2014
 
JOINING KYLE, DEON AND BRETT
With 547 yards passing in the last two games, Tiger quarterback Harry Satterwhite joins Kyle Caldwell, Deon Williams and Brett Gilliland as the only four UWA QBs to pass for more than 6,000 career yards. He now has 6,338 yards.
 
352 TO PASS THE HEAD COACH
Harry Satterwhite needs 352 yards passing to move past his head coach Brett Gilliland to third on the Tiger career passing yards list. The top four career passing leaders are listed on the next page of this notes package.
 
SOLID TEST
The Tigers offense faces a solid challenge this week at Ra-Lin Field in Carrollton. The Wolves lead the GSC in total defense (264.4), scoring defense (14.3), pass defense (150.3) and first downs allowed per game (15.6).
 
HOW IMPORTANT IS A HALF
West Alabama has either led or been tied at halftime in all five of its victories this season. The Tigers are 4-0 when leading at the half and 1-0 when tied at the intermission.
 
COACHING CROSSOVER
  • UWA defensive line coach Roberto Pinilla was a three-year starter on the defensive line for the Wolves and also coached at UWG. He finished his playing career as the West Georgia career leader in games started (35) and tackles by a defensive lineman (167).
  • UWG offensive coordinator Sam Gregg served on the UWA football staff for six years, three under current UWA AD Bobby Wallace as offensive line coach and three under Will Hall as offensive coordinator.
