UWA Falls in Opening Match of GSC Tournament

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. –One of the longest championship streaks in Gulf South Conference Men's Soccer Championship Tournament History has come to a close as the West Alabama Tigers fell on the road to the Alabama-Huntsville Chargers 1-0 in the First Round matchup Tuesday night.

This is the first opening round loss in program history and wraps a 7-8-2 season.

The contest was another tough matchup between the two squads with the winning goal coming at the 65:18 mark from Rafa Moreno.

UAH took 12 shots while the Tigers took 11, but UWA had more shots on goal with seven while the Chargers had five.

Austin Salazar wrapped his UWA career with five saves.

The Tigers four consecutive conference tournament titles are only bested by West Florida who won five straight tournament crowns from 2006-2010.
