WEST ALABAMA | 2018 GSC WOMEN'S BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT

UWA RECORD
West Alabama comes into the semi-finals of the GSC Tournament with a 14-14 record, the No. 7 seed in the field.
 
UWA vs UWF
UWA defeated West Florida, 83-72, in the only meeting between the two back on Dec. 16 in Pensacola. UWA leads the series 16-12.
 
UWA vs LEE
Lee beat UWA, 66-57, in the only meeting between the Tigers and Flames on Jan. 19 in Livingston. Lee heads the all-time series 8-1.
 
UWA vs UNION
Union and West Alabama also played just once this season with the Bulldogs winning, 102-81, on Feb. 14 in Jackson, Tenn. Union leads the series 12-1.

BACK IN THE TOURNEY
West Alabama is back in the GSC Tournament for the first time since the 2013-14 season when the Tigers were eliminated in the quarterfinals by Delta State.
 
2012 AND 2013 TITLE GAMES
West Alabama played in the title game of the GSC Tournament in both 2012 and 2013. UWA defeated UAH to win the title in 2011-12 before losing the to the Lady Chargers in the championship game the following year.

West Alabama is 2-2 all-time at the Pete Hannah Center.
 
TIGERS ALL-TIME IN GSC TOURNAMENT
Saturday's game will be the 22nd all-time GSC Tournament appearance for West Alabama.

UWA IN THE TOURNAMENT SEMI-FINALS
Saturday's game against West Florida marks the eighth all-time appearance for the Tigers in the GSC Tournament semi-finals.

Should the Tigers defeat UWF, it will mark the third time in program history for a trip to the tournament finals. West Alabama's lone GSC Tournament title came in 2012.
 
TRIP TO BIRMINGHAM
West Alabama advanced to Birmingham by upsetting No. 2 seed North Alabama on Tuesday at Flowers Hall in Florence. The Tigers rebounded from a drubbing by UNA in the regular season finale for both teams to defeat the Lions, 70-65, to open the GSC Tournament.
 
HEAD COACH RUSTY CRAM
West Alabama head coach Rusty Cram is 41-68 in his fourth season at UWA, 308-331 in his 23rd year as a collegiate head coach.
 
LAST 10
West Alabama is 6-4 over its last 10 games, dating back to 70-58 win over  Christian Brothers on Jan. 20 in Livingston.
 
FRESHMAN OF THE YEAR
After earning freshman of the week eight times over the course of the season, Tazsa Garrett-Hammett was voted by league coaches at the 2017-18 Gulf South Conference Freshman of the Year. TGH averaged 14.3 points and 8.,5 rebounds while collecting eight double-doubles.
 
FOURTH AND STRONG
West Alabama has been strong in the fourth quarter over 28 games this season, outscoring opponents 550-457 in the final period. The fourth is the only quarter the Tigers outscored opponents this season, but finishing strong leads to good things.
 
SLIGHT MARGIN
Heading into the semi-final game of the tournament, West Alabama has a +0.9 scoring advantage over 28 games this season. The Tigers have outscored opponents 1,949 to 1,924.
 
FIRST TIME FOR EVERYBODY
The appearance in the 2017-18 GSC Tournament is the first for every player on the West Alabama team.
