Tigers Handle Union to Take First Game of Series

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The West Alabama Tigers defeated the Union University Bulldogs, 3-1, in game one of the Gulf South Conference series. The Tigers now advance to 17-25 overall and 9-16 in the GSC.
 
Junior Nora Keehn pitched a complete game and allowed one run on three hits. Keehn is now 3-5.
 
UWA collected four hits from four separate players, including Ashley Smart, Allison Craft, Savannah Smathers, and Nicole Buccieri.
 
The Tigers were able to convert on two Union errors while only committing one of their own.
 
After scoring quickly in the first inning, the Tigers and Bulldogs faced a 1-1 tie through the fourth inning. UWA took the lead in the bottom of the fifth, scoring two more runs to secure the win.
 
The Tigers will be back in action for the doubleheader slated to begin at 1 p.m. at the UWA Softball Complex.
