Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women's Soccer Downs Delta State, 3-0

LIVINGSTON, Ala. –The West Alabama Tigers did not come to mess around today, putting up 26 shots in a 3-0 win over the Delta State Lady Statesmen in Gulf South Conference Women's Soccer action Sunday afternoon in Tiger Stadium.

UWA improves to 3-2-1 overall and 1-1 in the GSC while DSU falls to 2-2-1 overall and 1-1 in conference play.

"Delighted with the three points today," said Head coach Graeme Orr. "Delta are a very well coached and organized team. We had to be brave tonight and get on the ball and try to create combination plays to break a block defense. Very happy with the start of the second half some excellent crosses from Ellie McKenzie and good finishes. Now we go on the road and try to get more points on the board."

Anele Komani put the Tigers on the board with her fifth goal of the season at the 37:04 mark which stood as the only goal before the break.

Then TeMia Pride used a header off an assist from McKenzie to put UWA up 2-0 at the 59:37 mark. The goal was Pride's fifth of the year. Kaylah Butterworth hit her second goal of the season at the 64:11 off an assist from Pride to go up 3-0 for the final.

West Alabama returns to action Sept. 21 against Union in Jackson, Tennessee as part of the first of four straight road contests. The match is scheduled to start at 6 p.m.
