Late Goal Lifts Saint Leo over UWA

LIVINGSTON, Ala.– The West Alabama Tigers battled with the Saint Leo Lions evenly until a late goal for the visitors made the difference in a 2-1 loss for UWA in Tiger Stadium Sunday afternoon.
 
The Tigers (1-1-1) and SLU were scoreless until the 55-minute mark when Anele Komani scored for the second time this year off an assist from Ellie McKenzie to give UWA the lead.
 
However, goals by Saint Leo's Caitlin Strong (58') and Bailey Horn (83') pushed the Lions ahead for the victory in Livingston.
 
Jenni Aarniva finished with 11 saves while TeMia Pride and Kaylah Butterworth each took four shots to lead the Tigers.
 
West Alabama will have a week to prepare for a road trip to Albany State to take on the Rams in Albany, Georgia. Match is scheduled to start at 12 p.m.
