Tigers Down Division I Opponent Jackson State, 3-2

JACKSON, Miss.– Overcoming adversity from the circumstance, the West Alabama Tigers put together a tremendous effort and defeated NCAA Division I opponent Jackson State in JSU's home opener 3-2 in Women's Volleyball action Tuesday night.
 
UWA improves to 11-4 on the season while Jackson State falls to 5-14 overall.
 
West Alabama used a three-headed attack to handle JSU to the tune of a .282 hitting percentage. Jaime Lancellot led the way with 15 kills, followed by 13 kills for Madison Cooler and 10 for Taylor Donato. Kassie Till was once again stellar with 43 assists. Jessica Akiona and Rebecca Johnson both turned in three service aces each.
 
The front line also turned in a stellar effort led by seven blocks for Bret Luther, six blocks for Lancellot and five for Cooler. Alex Fuelling recorded 10 digs to lead the Tigers there.
 
UWA returns to action Friday with a Gulf South Conference match against West Georgia over in Carrollton, Georgia. The match is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. locally. Links to live stats and live video will be available on uwaathletics.com.
