UWA Women’s Hoops Preview at UAH, Lee

The Chargers will host the Tigers at Spragins Hall on the Alabama Huntsville campus on Thursday and Lee will entertain UWA at the Paul Dana Walker Arena on the Lee University campus in Cleveland, Tenn.

West Alabama
The Tigers are 7-8 overall and 4-4 in Gulf South Conference play. The Tigers are 3-5 on the road overall, 2-1 on the road against GSC opponents.
 
Alabama Huntsville
Alabama Huntsville is 6-8 overall, 4-4 in GSC play. The Chargers are 2-3 at home overall, 2-2 versus conference teams at home.
 
Lee
Owners of a five-game winning streak heading into Thursday play, Lee is 13-3 overall and 7-1 in the GSC. The Flames are 6-1 at home, 3-1 at home against the league. Lee is host to Montevallo on Thursday before entertaining UWA on Saturday.
 
Freshman of the Week
Bria Dent earned Gulf South Conference Freshman of the Week for her performance in three games last week. She averaged a double-double over three games, averaging 13.7 points and 10.3 rebounds while ringing up her first two collegiate double-doubles against Christian Brothers and No. 8 Union, respectively.
 
Tan for Two
Tiger post player Latangellia Walker has been on fire over the last three games. The senior from Birmingham has converted 18-of-21 field goal attempts (.857) and 10-of-14 from the free throw line (.714).
 
10 Over Last Four
Bria Dent has collected 40 rebounds over the last four games, averaging 10 per game. She had a career-high `13 against Union last Saturday.
 
Series vs. UAH
Thursday's game will be the 64th in the series between West Alabama and Alabama Huntsville. UWA leads the series 34-29. The Tigers and Chargers split a pair of games last season, with UWA winning, 62-55, on Dec. 3 in Livingston and UAH winning, 64-62, on Feb. 5 in Huntsville.
 
Series vs. Lee
This is 10th game in the series between UWA and Lee. The Flames own an 8-1 advantage.
 
UWA Coach Rusty Cram
Rusty Cram is 48-77 in his fifth season at West Alabama, 315-340 as a collegiate head coach, including stops at Georgia Southern and Belhaven.
 
UAH Coach Andrea Lemmond
Andrea Lemmond is 50-74 as a collegiate head coach, all at Alabama Huntsville.
 
Lee Coach Marty Rowe
Marty Rowe is 385-98 in his 15th year at Lee, 516-163 in his 21st season as a college head coach. He spent five seasons at Brescia University before taking the position at Lee.
 
Nationally Ranked
Lee will be the second nationally ranked team that West Alabama has played in three games. The Flames are ranked No. 23 by D2SIDA. Last Saturday's opponent, Union, is ranked 7th by WBCA and 9th by D2SIDA.
 
The Bug
The injury bug has bitten the Tigers. West Alabama is expected to be without four key players on the road trip due to injury. Tazsa Garrett-Hammett, Chloe Culpepper, Sydney Bozeman and Jala Williams are not expected to suit up for the Tigers.
