Tiger Tennis Drops Pair of Exhibition Matches

JACKSONVILLE, Ala. – Both the University of West Alabama men's and women's tennis teams dropped exhibition matches by identical 4-3 scores to Jacksonville State at the JSU Tennis Courts Saturday.
 
Jacksonville State won the doubles point to open the men's match with Julius Kaverinen and Linus Holthey earning the lone Tiger victory at No. 1 by a 6-3 margin.
 
Ilia Dehodiuk, Ilari Vesanen and Henrik Sinkko picked up singles wins to round out Tiger scoring. Dehodiuk defeated Guillermo Agost 6-2, 6-1 at No. 3, Vesanen beat Alexand Vishevskiy 6-2, 6-2 at No. 4 and Sinkko defeated Jordi Blanchar 6-3, 6-2 at No. 6.
 
The West Alabama women won the doubles point. Georgina Salom and Andrea Tomassone defeated Harriet Hamilton and Elena Tendero, 6-2, at No. 2 doubles. Liliana Araucz and Daryna Hukasian beat Christina Moll Alles and Alessia Locati, 6-4, at No. 3.
 
The Tigers women's singles victories were registered by Sarah Manseri at No. 2 and Haina Franco at No. 3. Manseri defeated Locati 6-1, 7-5, while Franco defeated Malin Buechner 6-4, 4-6, 7-6.
 
Both Tiger teams return to action Thursday in another exhibition match at Alabama State. First serve is set for 2 p.m. in Montgomery.
