THE SERIES
This is the fourth meeting between the Tigers and the Crusaders. NGU leads the series 2-1.
 
WEST ALABAMA
West Alabama is 3-1 after a 36-16 win over Tuskegee at home last week.
 
NORTH GREENVILLE
North Greenville is 1-3 after a 34-9 loss to Delta State at home last week.

Brett Gilliland is 40-22 in his sixth season at UWA. Jeff Farrington is 33-28 in his sixth year at NGU.

The three games in the UWA-NGU series have been decided by a total of eight points, with the Crusaders winning 24-23 in 2016 at home, the Tigers wining 29-26 at home in 2017 and UNG winning 20-16 in Tigerville, S.C. last season.
 
ONE STEP BACK FROM AFCA
Despite a 36-16 win over Tuskegee at home last week, the University of West Alabama football team dropped one spot in the American Football Coaches Association NCAA Division II Top 25 Football Poll to No. 25. UWA is unranked by D@Football.com.
 
ONLY TWO
Top-ranked Valdosta State and UWA are the only GSC teams ranked by AFCA, the Blazers at No. 1 and the Tigers at No. 25.
 
TIGERS vs CRUSADERS IN LIVY
West Alabama's lone win in the abbreviated three-game series against NGU came in 2017 with a 29-26 win at home.  Harry Satterwhite passed for 367 yards, Donta Armstrong caught 12 passes and the West Alabama defense forced six turnovers.
 
GSC FROM HERE ON OUT
West Alabama concluded the out of conference portion of its 2019 schedule with a 36-16 win over Tuskegee last week. The Tigers have not lost a non-conference home game in the Brett Gilliland era at UWA.

This will be the 37th TV game in the history of the UWA football program. The Tigers are 20-16 all-time in TV games, 0-1 this season.
 
LAST YEAR AT NORTH GREENVILLE
E.J. Humphrey scored on a 6-yard run with 14.1 seconds left to lift North Greenville to a 20-16 Gulf South Conference football victory over No. 21 West Alabama. North Greenville had 317 yards total offense and held the Tigers to 222 and 14 first downs. The Tigers committed 15 penalties for 165 yards.

Senior defensive end Jordan Jones leads UWA with 4.5 tackles for loss and 3.5 sacks, giving him 33.5 career TFLs and 16.5 career sacks despite missing four games as a redshirt freshman due to injury. He needs just one more sack and 5.5` more TFLs to move into the GSC all-time top 10.
