Tigers Handle Badgers for 6-0 Victory

LIVINGSTON, Ala.Lauren George was involved in four different goals as the University of West Alabama Tigers defeated the Spring Hill College Badgers, 6-0, Friday night in Gulf South Conference action in Tiger Stadium and flirted with setting some records.

UWA pushed the unbeaten streak to six straight matches and is now 7-3-1 overall and 5-1-1 in the GSC. SHC fell to 1-10-0 on the season and 0-7-0 in league play.

"It was a professional performance. We respect every team in the GSC and we brought a lot of energy and wanted to attack in numbers," said Head coach Graeme Orr. "The whole squad played which is great and now we focus on Sunday and a challenge against one of the top teams in the country."

George assisted on TeMia Pride's 45th career goal at the 11:52 mark and on Aleah Headley's goal at the 23:36 mark before scoring a goal herself to make it 3-0 UWA. The freshman from London, England later scored a second goal at the 55:43 mark.

Anele Komani scored her fourth goal of the season off an assist from Headley at the 37:57 mark and Madison Barbara scored her first career goal with an assist from Allison Garrity to cap scoring in the 6-0 victory with 76 minutes passed.

The Tigers turned in a near record setting performance with 34 shots, which is second all-time for shots in a game, and tied for second all-time in shots on goal with 17. The defense was historic as well by holding the Badgers to just one shot, it marked the fourth time in program history to accomplish that feat. SHC's zero SOGs was the second time ever UWA Women's Soccer held a team without an SOG.

West Alabama returns to action Sunday in a GSC match against West Florida. Start time is set for 1 p.m. in Tiger Stadium with game links available on uwaathletics.com.
