THE SERIES
This is the seventh meeting between the Tigers and the Panthers. The series is tied 3-3.
 
WEST ALABAMA
West Alabama is 4-4 overall, 1-4 in the GSC after a 33-17 loss to West Georgia last week.
 
FLORIDA TECH
Florida Tech is 3-5 overall, 1-4 in GSC play after a 38-14 loss to West Florida last week.
 
THE COACHES
Brett Gilliland is 41-25 in his sixth season at UWA. Steve Englehart is 42-34 in his seventh year at FT, 68-48 in his 11th season as a collegiate head coach.

FOUR AND TWO
Both teams come into the game with modest losing streaks. Florida Tech has lost four consecutive games. The Panthers last win was a 44-10 trouncing of West Georgia at home on Sept. 28. UWA's last victory was Oct. 12, 41-0, over Shorter on Homecoming.

TWO OVERALL
Until Saturday's loss to UWA, UWA had not lost two consecutive games since the beginning of the 2016 season, 24-23 at North Greenville and 30-24 at Stephen F Austin.
 
TWO IN THE LEAGUE
The Tigers hadn't lost back-to-back conference games since the 2015 season, 32-14 to West Georgia and 24-13 at Florida Tech.
 
THREE STRAIGHT
West Alabama has not lost three games in a row since the 2009 season. In a season that ended in a trip to the NCAA Playoffs, the Tigers lost back-to-back-to-back to Southern Arkansas (38-30), Valdosta State (35-6) and Lambuth (58-40).

LAST YEAR IN LIVY: TIGERS 29, PANTHERS 22
Jonnas Spivey caught one pass in the Tigers 29-22 Gulf South Conference win over Florida Tech at Tiger Stadium. The problem for Florida Tech is Spivey's 15-yard reception was not only his first West Alabama touchdown, but was the game-winner for the Tigers over the fourth-place team in NCAA Division II Super Region 2. With the lead in hand, Jordan Graddy intercepted FIT quarterback Trent Chmelik with 1:35 left and West Alabama ran out the clock to keep its postseason dreams alive. UWA led for all but three-and-one-half minutes in the game and compiled 386 total yards to 333 for the Panthers. The Tiger defense held FIT to just 1-for-12 on third-down conversions.

PERMANENT CAPTAINS
The UWA football team has voted on permanent captains for the 2019 season and they are as follows: center Call Dyer, TE Qua Boyd, DE Jordan Jones, safety Tavarius Hutchinson and punter Zach Gaines.
 
TWO STRAIGHT FOR BOYD
This is the second consecutive season that Qua Boyd has been voted by his teammates as a permanent team captain.
 
QUA MOVING UP RECEIVING CHARTS
With three regular seasons games to play Tiger tight end Qua Boyd has moved to fifth on the UWA all-time receptions chart with 115. His 1,455 receding yards is sixth all-time.
 
BAYLEY CLIMBING THE LADDER
Junior receiver Bayley Blanchard led all UWA receivers with seven catches for 71 yards against West Georgia, moving him to eighth on the UWA career list with 97 receptions.
 
SENIOR DAY VS CHOCTAWS
Saturday, Nov. 9, the final home game of the season, will also be Senior Day for West Alabama football. Twenty-two Tiger seniors will be honored in pregame ceremonies for their contributions to UWA football.
 
JORDAN TIE FOR 10
Tiger DE Jordan Jones comes into the game this week with 39 career tackles for loss, leaving him tied for 10th all-time in the Gulf South Conference.
