Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Laidler’s Lone Goal Lifts Tigers

LIVINGSTON, Ala.– In a tough matchup between two solid Gulf South Conference teams, Paige Laidler scored the only goal of the day late in the contest to give the University of West Alabama Women's Soccer team the win over the Valdosta State Lady Blazers in the first home match of the season in Tiger Stadium for the squad.

UWA improves to 4-3-0 overall and 2-1-0 in the GSC while VSU falls to 3-4-0 and 1-2-0 in the league.

"I thought the girls worked extremely hard and were unlucky not to have put a few more in," said Head coach Graeme Orr. "The drive was there, and we're excited for the next game."

Scoring came at a high premium as both teams were without a goal until the 82:56 mark where Laidler scored her second goal of the season off an assist from Abigail Clanton which served as the game winner for the Tigers.

West Alabama outshot the Lady Blazers 11-1 and registered more shots on goal 6-1.

TeMia Pride and Anele Komani both took three shots each while Aleah Headley took two.

Jenni Aarniva (3-2-0) made one save in the contest and earned her second shutout of the year.

The Tigers return to action Sunday afternoon against West Georgia. The GSC contest is set for a 1 p.m. start in Livingston, Alabama. Game links will be available on uwaathletics.com.
