Tigers Suffer Setback in Double Overtime against Lee

CLEVELAND, Tenn. – It took 102 minutes, but the Lee Flames got the shot they needed in the second overtime to defeat the University of West Alabama Women's Soccer team in Gulf South Conference action Friday night and end the nine-game unbeaten streak for the Tigers at Lee Soccer Field.
 
UWA falls to 10-4-1 on the season and 8-2-1 in the GSC while Lee improves to 12-3-0 overall and 8-2-0 in league play.
 
Riley Henry scored the golden goal with an assist from Carly Smoltz at 102:01 in the second overtime period. Henry, who's scored six goals for the Flames, led the team with three shots and two shots on goal.
 
As a unit, Lee outshot the Tigers 10-4 but every UWA shot was on goal while the Flames totaled three SOGs.
 
TeMia Pride and Anele Komani each took two shots and had two SOGs.
 
Jenni Aarniva (10-4-1) finished with two saves in the loss.
 
West Alabama will continue to have to work to assure a first-round match at home in the quarterfinals of the GSC Women's Soccer Championship Tournament.
