Volleyball Season Closes with Loss to UWG

CARROLLTON, Ga. – The University of West Alabama Volleyball season has come to a close in four-set loss to the West Georgia Wolves Saturday afternoon in Gulf South Conference action at the Coliseum.
 
UWA wraps the season with a 10-22 overall record and 4-12 mark in the GSC. The Wolves improve to 19-11 on the season and will enter the GSC Volleyball Championship Tournament as the third seed with a 13-3 mark in league play.
 
"We played well in moments this weekend, and throughout the whole season," said Head coach Hilary Lobenstein. "We appreciate everything that we have learned and look forward to the offseason."
 
West Georgia won the first two sets 25-18 and 25-15 respectively. UWA won the third game 26-24, however UWG went on to win the fourth set 25-20 to win the match, 3-1.
 
Jessica Akiona led the Tigers with 12 kills while Taylor Donato and Ally Craig both added 10 kills each. Donato also served as the digs leader in her final appearance for UWA with 12. Akiona led the primary attackers in percentage at .500. 
 
Grace Harris passed 22 assists and Desiree Blount added 19 assists while Rebecca Johnson had the other three Tiger assists.
 
Bret Luther, Leah Koltz and Lindsey Heller all finished two block assists on the front row.
 
As a team, UWA produced a .275 attack percentage with 50 kills and 27 errors on 120 total attacks. UWG it a .398 attack percentage with 60 kills and 13 errors on 118 total attacks. 
 
Carrington Terrell led the match and West Georgia with 15 kills while Mckenna Wharton, Anjelina Webb and Tierra White all had 13 kills. Madi Fleming posted 48 assists.
