Tigers Grab 78-74 win at Union, Claim 11th Straight Victory

JACKSON, Tenn.– The West Alabama Tigers took the Union Bulldogs' best shot, but as has been the case throughout the win streak UWA handled the big moments to come away with a 78-74 victory Saturday evening in Gulf South Conference Men's basketball action in Fred DeLay Gymnasium.

Winners of 11 consecutive games, the Tigers have clinched home court advantage in the first round of the GSC Championship Tournament on March 5. Now at 20-5 overall and 15-3 in the conference, UWA has crossed the 20-win mark and reached 15 wins in the conference for the first time since the 2014-15 season which was the first year under Head coach Allen Sharpe.

West Alabama finished 63.2 percent (12-of-19) for the second game in the row, led by 6-of-9 effort by senior guard Josh Fleming. The native of West Haven, Connecticut kept the Tigers within striking distance in the first half by connecting on all his long-range shots in the first 20 minutes. Fleming finished with a team leading 24 points.

LaJuan Hardy finished with 22 points, six rebounds and four assists but his largest mark came in a stretch where he went on an 11-4 run to take UWA from down 60-57 to up 68-64 with 4:27 left on the game clock. The Tigers never trailed again after this run.

Tavaras Tolliver scored a season high 18 points and added four rebounds and two steals.
