Tigers Fall to Nova in Gulf Coast Invitational Finale

GULF SHORES, Ala.– Ten total hits between the two teams, but only two runs were scored with both by the Nova Southeastern Sharks, who grabbed the 2-0 win over the West Alabama Tigers in UWA's final game of the Gulf Coast Invitational.
 
Four hits belonged to the Tigers as Kendall Johnson, Kacy Noland, Kailey Hunt and Jenna Goldsmith all registered successful trips to the plate. Paige Dill and Nicole Buccieri both drew a walk.
 
The runs for Nova came far apart as the Sharks scored once in the first inning and then much later in the top of the second.
 
Kamree Lay (0-2) suffered the loss in the contest after going five innings with three strikeouts. Lay also allowed four hits and a run. Kat Burks pitched 0.2 innings with two hits and a run allowed and Nora Keehn finished the game with 1.1 innings pitched with a strikeout and a walk.
 
West Alabama (1-4) will return home to prepare for a trip to Huntsville, Alabama for the UAH Charger Chillout hosted by Alabama-Huntsville from Feb. 8-10.
