UWA Women’s Hoops Preview Versus UAH, LEE

West Alabama
The Tigers are 9-12 overall and 6-8 in Gulf South Conference play. The Tigers are 5-4 this season at home in Pruitt Hall Gym.
 
Red Out
Thursday game against Alabama Huntsville is a "Red Out" game at Pruitt Hall Gym, sponsored by UWA Student Life. Tiger fans are encouraged to wear red as the Tigers host the Lady Chargers and Chargers.
 
Alabama Huntsville
The Lady Chargers are 10-9 overall, 8-5 in GSC play. UAH owns a modest three-game winning streak and is 5-5 on the road this season.
 
Lee
The Flames are 17-4 overall, 11-2 in league play. Lee is 8-2 on the road. The Flames play Thursday at Montevallo before making the trip to Sumter County.
 
Last Meeting With UAH
Baylee Johnson and Aryn Sanders combined for 52 points as Alabama Huntsville defeated UWA, 71-58, on Jan. 17 in Huntsville. Parker McKenzie led four Tigers in double figures with 17 points.
 
Last Meeting With Lee
Abby Bertram scored 25 points for Lee as the Flames defeated West Alabama, 77-50, in Cleveland, Tennessee on Jan. 19. Freshman Bria Dent picked up her fourth straight double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds while also leading UWA with four assists. 
 
Series vs. UAH
This is the 65th game in the series between West Alabama and Alabama Huntsville. UWA leads the series, 34-30.
 
Series vs. Lee
This is the 11th game in the series between West Alabama and Lee. The Flames own a 9-1 advantage.
 
UWA Coach Rusty Cram
Rusty Cram is 49-80 in his fifth season at West Alabama, 316-343 as a collegiate head coach, including stops at Georgia Southern and Belhaven.
 
UAH Coach Andrea Lemmond
Andrea Lemmond is 53-75 as a collegiate head coach, all at UAH.
 
Lee Coach Marty Rowe
Marty Rowe is 387-99 in his 15th season at Lee, 518-164 in his 21st year as a college head coach. He coached five years at Brescia University before taking the reins at Lee.

Lee leads the GSC in scoring defense, allowing 21 opponents just 51.8 points per game. The Flames also lead the league in field goal percentage defense (.338), turnover margin (5.38) and turnovers forced (433).

Making Her Way Back
Tazsa Garrett-Hammett, last season's GSC Freshman of the Year, is gradually playing her way back into form over the last four games since coming back from a leg injury. Over that time span the sophomore from LaGrange, Georgia is averaging 28.5 minutes, 11.0 points and 6.5 rebounds. She is shooting 55 percent (16-29) from the floor and 63 percent (12-19) from the free throw line.
