LIVINGSTON, Ala. – Lee University buried 15 three-pointers on the way to defeating West Alabama, 74-38, in Gulf South Conference women's basketball Saturday at Pruitt Hall Gym.
 
The 25th-ranked Lady Flames converted 15-of-28 (53 percent) from behind the three-point line while running away with the conference win. Lee made more three pointers than regular field goals in the game (15-to-13).
 
Lee improved to 18-5 overall, 12 -3 in the GSC. West Alabama is 10-13 and 7-9. UWA's 38 points marks the lowest regular-season point total in the last five seasons.
 
Jenna Scoggins led four Lee double figure scorers with 21 points, making 8-of-12 from the floor, 5-of-7 from beyond the three-point arc. Lindsey Roddy chipped in 13 points, followed by Taylor Boggess with 12 and Haley Schubert with 11.
 
While Lee was shooting 47 percent from the floor (28-of-61), West Alabama answered by making just 27 percent (13-of-48). The Tigers made just 3-of-20 three point tries.
 
Lee won the rebounding battle, 39-33 and outscored the Tigers 15-3 on second chance points. The Lady Flames converted 22 West Alabama turnovers into 32 points while leading for 37 minutes of the game. Becca Cheeks and Hallie Hughes had five rebounds each for Lee.
 
Tazsa Garrett-Hammett led Tiger scoring with 11 points. Bria Dent and J'Nyiah Daniels chipped in 10 each. Garrett-Hammett and Elaine Field had eight rebounds each for UWA, followed by Dent with seven.
 
West Alabama visits Christian Brothers Thursday for a 5 p.m. tipoff. Lee plays at Alabama Huntsville Thursday.
