No. 23 Tigers Take Care of Business Against SAU

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – West Alabama stepped out of conference play to win its fourth straight match by defeating Southern Arkansas, 6-1, Monday at the Vaughan Tennis Complex.
 
Ranked 23rd in the nation, West Alabama improved to 9-2. Southern Arkansas, who received votes in the latest ITA Men's Division II National Rankings, dropped to 14-3.
 
After winning the doubles point in fairly short order, the Tigers clinched the match with Ilari Vesanen's 6-3, 7-5 win over Marko Nikolink at No. 2 singles. Julius Kaverinen and Ilia Dehodiuk both won in straight sets at single No. 1 and 3, respectively. Linus Holthey won 9-8 (5) at No. 4 and Erik Nordblom 9-7 at No. 6
 
Nordblom and Noah Johansen finished first with a 6-1 win in doubles over Gustaro Kerber and Marko Nikolink. Henrik Sinkko and Vesanen followed with a 6-4 win at No. 2 over Alexandre Machin and Yuri Gondonin.
 
The Tigers travel to Pensacola, Florida to meet 13th-ranked Georgia College in a neutral site match on the campus of the University of West Florida on Wednesday.
