PENSACOLA, Fla. – Seventh-ranked Nova Southeastern remained unbeaten by defeating West Alabama, 6-1, in women's college tennis Saturday in a neutral site match at the Carson Tennis Center on the campus of the University of West Florida.
The Sharks are now 11-0, while West Alabama dropped to 3-4.
"A tough match against a very good team," UWA head coach Jeff Beaman. "We came out a bit flat in doubles but started getting it going better in singles, but on this day they were the better team."
After earning the doubles point by winning at No. 1 and 3, Nova clinched the match when Ana Navas beat Daryna Hukasian 6-2, 6-4 at No. 1 singles. The Sharks won five of six singles matches.
Sarah Manseri picked up West Alabama's lone victory, defeating Natalie Espinal 6-4, 7-5 at No. 2 singles. The No. 2 doubles match was unfinished.
