Tiger Women Smash Lee, 7-0

CLEVELAND, Tenn. – The 13th-ranked West Alabama women's tennis team cruised to a 7-0 Gulf South Conference victory Wednesday over Lee at the DeVos Tennis Center.
 
The 7-0 victory was the fourth for the Tigers this season, the third over GSC opposition. All have come in the last 29 days.
 
The Tigers are 11-4 overall and a perfect 6-0 in league play. After a 1-3 start, West Alabama has won 10 of its last 11 matches. Lee fell to 14-5 and 5-4.
 
Sarah Manseri and Liliana Araucz clinched the doubles point for UWA with a 6-4 victory at No. 2. Daryna Hukasian and Haina Franco opened doubles play with a win at No. 3, but Lee won the No. 1 court to force Maseri and Araucz to take the point.
 
West Alabama swept the singles competition, with Georgina Salom, Andrea Tomassone and Araucz all winning in straight sets.
 
"I am proud of the way the ladies competed against a solid opponent," UWA head coach Jeff Beaman said. "A day of rest, recovery and school work tomorrow and right back at it for a tough weekend starting this Friday."
 
The Tigers have a pair of GSC matches coming up this weekend, playing Christian Brothers in Columbus, Mississippi on Friday and Shorter at home on Saturday.
