UWA Suffers Shutout to Queens

COLUMBUS, Ga.– The Queens (N.C.) Royals scored two goals in the first half which was enough to claim a victory over the University of West Alabama Women's Soccer team Friday evening during the Columbus State Tournament at the Walden Soccer Complex.

Nia Gaither scored both goals for Queens (3-1-0) with the first coming at the 17:53 mark and the second at the 35:25 mark.

Both teams took seven shots, but West Alabama (1-2-0) was limited to just one shot on goal while the Royals had six shots on goal.

Anele Komani and Nikol Gonzalez both took three shots while Komani, the reigning Gulf South Conference Player of the Week, had the only SOG for the Tigers during the contest.

Jenni Aarniva (0-1) finished with four saves.

West Alabama returns to action Sunday against the hosts Columbus State Cougars with a match time set for 2 p.m. CDT. Links to live stats and live video will be available on uwaathletics.com.
