UWA-TUSKEGEE TIES
Tuskegee head coach Willie Slater and tight ends coach Lawrence Samuels both played at West Alabama and are both in the UWA Athletics Hall of Fame. Golden Tigers defensive coordinator Joseph Carter coached linebackers at UWA in the early 2000s.
 
TEMPLE TIME
TU head coach Willie Slater also served as offensive coordinator at Temple in 2005 under current Tiger athletic director Bobby Wallace.
 
NOTHING SINCE 2004
This is the first meeting between UWA and TU since a 20-0 Tuskegee victory  in Livingston during the 2004 season.
 
TIGERS vs GOLDEN TIGERS AT TIGER STADIUM
West Alabama and Tuskegee have split four games at Tiger Stadium on the UWA campus, winning in 1975 and 1977 and losing in 1981 and 2004.
 
THE NATIONAL POLLS
The American Football Coaches Association poll has UWA ranked at No. 24 this week. D2Football.com dropped the Tigers from its top 25 following the loss at Valdosta State.
 
PUNTING PROWESS
West Alabama punter Zach Gaines leads the nation in average yards per punt at 49.6. West Alabama is fifth int he nation in net punting at 42.35 yards.
 
NO SURPRISE…JONES IN THE BACKFIELD
Senior defensive end Jordan Jones leads UWA with 3.5 tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks, giving him 32 career TFLs and 15 career sacks despite missing four games as a redshirt freshman due to injury. He needs just 2.5 more sacks and seven more TFLs to move into the GSC all-time top 10.
 
PICKLESS
West Alabama is the only team in the GSC that has failed to intercept a pass this season. Valdosta State and Delta State lead the league with five each.
 
POINT AFTER
The Tigers are the only team in the GSC with more than 10 point after touchdown kicks to have not missed one. Tre Jackson is 14-of-14.
 
PROTECTION YOU CAN COUNT ON
The West Alabama offensive line leads the GSC in sacks allowed, giving up only two over the first three games.
 
ALL-PURPOSE CHRISTIAN
UWA receiver and return man Christian Saulsberry leads the Gulf South Conference  in all-purpose yards with 448 total, or 149.3 per game.

The Tigers are honoring Ethan LyBrand at this week's game celebrating the AFCA Coach to Cure MD Week. UWA HOF
Michael Flynn, Jerry Smith and Gerald Worsham are being inducted into the University of West Alabama Athletic Hall of Fame at the Annual National Alumni Association Meeting Saturday.  They will serve as honorary game captains at the football game that evening against Tuskegee and be recognized at halftime as well. Flynn was a UWA basketball star, Worsham a football star and Smith is credited with starting the UWA track and cross country programs. programs.
