Tiger Wranglers Third, Fifth at SAU Rodeo

MAGNOLIA, Ark. – Ryder Ladner and Chase Graves' 15.2 average was good enough to split the top spot in team roping and help lead West Alabama to a third place finish on the men's side of the Southern Arkansas Rodeo. The UWA women finished fifth at the event held at Story Arena.

Ladner and Graves posted an 8.0 and 7.2 respectively in rounds one and two, while Justin Sailors and Cody Hogan of Tennessee-Martin put up a 7.7 and 7.5 to share the top spot in the average. Cooper Malone teamed up with West Smith of East Mississippi Community College to take second at 18.8.

Missouri Valley collected 610 points to win the men's side of the rodeo, followed by UTM with 440, UWA with 430, SAU with 390 and EMCC with 370 to round out the top five. Three Rivers College and Pearl River Community College scored 270 and 30, respectively to complete scoring in the men's field.

EMCC's 475 points ran away with the women's title, followed by MVC with 185, UTM with 180, SAU with 145 and UWA with 70 in the top five. Arkansas Rich Mountain and Central Methodist earned 60 points each, followed by PRCC with 45 and TRC with 20 to complete the women's scoring.

Ladner also captured a third-place finish in calf roping with a 23.4 average. JT Ellison with fifth and Blayne Saine sixth with 10.4 and 10.6, respectively in the first round but no time in the second. Malone captured third in steer wrestling, positing an 18.1 average.

Heather McLaughlin was fourth in goat tying with a 15.2 average. Her 6.9 was second in the first round.

The Tiger Wranglers are currently scheduled to close out the fall season at the Racer Roundup hosted by Murray State Nov. 12-14 at the Bill Cherry Expo Center.
