"This was a battle against one of the top men's teams in the nation that could have gone either way," UWA head coach Jeff Beaman said. "The match came down to 5- 5 in the third set of the deciding match.

"Patricio gave a great fight as a freshman with the match on the line against an experienced, nationally-ranked player," Beaman said. "We also had two very big wins at one and two singles."

The lone win for the West Alabama women came at No. 3 doubles where Morgan Bishop and Hardija Vidnere defeated Irene Recuenco and Lais Bicca, 6-4. The women's doubles point was decided at No. 1 where Berta Bonardi and Lucie Lesecq of UWF beat Haina Franco and Thea Yang of UWA, 6-4. UWF won all six women's singles matches.

"This was a tough match against a very good team. We pushed them at spots but came up short," Beaman said. "We need to get a good night's sleep and be ready for UT Tyler in the morning."
