Tigers Split in Mobile, Win Three of Four Over Spring Hill

MOBILE, Ala. – Trenton Lee and Gavin Rogers homered as West Alabama rapped out 11 hits on the way to a 10-2 win the in the second game and a split of a college baseball doubleheader with Spring Hill Sunday at Stan Galle Field. SHC won the first game 2-0.
 
A sweep in Livingston on Saturday meant West Alabama won three of four matchups with Spring Hill over the weekend to improve to 9-11. The Badgers are 11-11.
 
After being limited to just two hits in the first game the Tigers got the bats going in the nightcap, including Lee's first home run as a Tiger and Rogers' third this season.
 
AJ Fell (3-1) went the distance for the Spring Hill win, carrying a no hitter into the seventh inning. Fell walked one and struck out nine. UWA starter Colin Chamblin (0-3) took the loss, allowing just two runs on six hits while striking out six.
 
Connor Brooks (1-1) picked up the win in relief in game two, striking out nine and not allowing a hit in 3.2 innings pitched. Spring Hill starter Logan Clark (1-2) was charged with the loss, allowing six runs on six hits in four innings.
 
West Alabama scored a pair of runs in every inning but the first and sixth in the game two victory. Taylor Clemmons, Connor Christian, Jonathan Thibodeau and Lee all had two hits for the Tigers. Clemmons tripled and doubled. Thibodeau doubled and reached base four times. Both Rogers' and Lee's home runs were two-run shots.
 
Starter Austin Kitterman and Brooks allowed spring Hill just three hits in the nightcap. The Badgers had six hits in the first game. No Spring Hill player had multiple hits in either game.
 
West Alabama closes out a three-game road swing by playing Miles College at Rickwood Field in Birmingham on Tuesday before hosting Delta State this weekend. Spring Hill opens a three-game series at Albany (Ga.) State on Friday.
