WEST ALABAMA
The Tigers are 3-3 on the season and in Gulf South Conference after dropping a pair of home games to West Division foe Union with an 87-68 loss on Jan. 15 and an 88-55 loss the following day. Bria Dent registered two double-doubles on the weekend with 19 points and 10 rebounds in the first game and 12 points and 11 rebounds in the second contest.

MONTEVALLO
The Falcons are 5-2 overall as well as in GSC East Division competition thanks to five straight wins including two victories last weekend over West Georgia on the road in Carrollton, Georgia. Savannah Lee was outstanding against the Wolves with 27 points on 66 percent shooting, six rebounds, a steal and a block in the first game. She followed the performance with 22 points and 11 rebounds for her first career double double. Lee was named East Division Player of the Week.

SAME CONFERENCE, BUT NON-CONFERENCE
Despite both being members of the Gulf South Conference, the two teams will meet in a non-conference match up as the two teams are in different divisions for this unique season. The last time UWA and Montevallo played in a game that did not count in the league standings was on Nov. 25, 2014 where UWA won on the road 62-47.

A TAD BIT STREAKY
The Falcons are on a two-game winning streak in the series between the two teams. West Alabama had won five straight previously with the 2014 non-conference win followed by two wins in 2018 and 2019 when Montevallo returned to the GSC.

GOING THROUGH CHANGES
Because of postponements due to COVID-19 protocols, this is the first road trip of the season for the Tigers. UWA has seen trips to Christian Brothers and Mississippi College changed due to the ongoing global pandemic.

WHAT'S NEXT
West Alabama will travel to Clinton, Mississippi for a one game meeting with West Division opponent Mississippi College on Jan. 26 at 5 p.m. This one will count in the GSC Standings. Links to live video and live stats will be available on uwaathletics.com.
