Tigers Fall Short against Montevallo

LIVINGSTON, Ala. - West Alabama men's soccer team took a 2-1 defeat from Montevallo Sunday evening at Varsity Soccer Field.

The Tigers dropped to 5-7 overall and 3-4 in GSC play with the loss. The Falcons advance to 10-2-1 and is now 6-2 in the conference.

Neither team could find a goal in the first half, but the match picked up in the second. 

Aymane El Ammari scored in the first 1:07 seconds of the second half to put the Tigers up 1-0. 

Montevallo midfielder Sam Mitchell scored the equalizer with 24 minutes left in the match. The Falcons hit another goal off the foot of forward Edorta Cabieces Sanz to give Montevallo the 2-1 lead over the Tigers. 

Neither team scored in the 15 minutes remaining which led Montevallo to a 2-1 victory over the Tigers.

The Tigers' goalie Harry Deveney allowed two goals and recorded two saves in his 90 minutes of action.

Salvador Plaza was the Falcons' goalkeeper. He allowed one goal adn recorded to saves in the victory. 

Montevallo outshot UWA 11-9. The Tigers had four on goal shots compared to the Tiger's three. Both teams had two corner kicks each during the match.

The Tigers battle West Florida Thursday, Oct. 21 at the Sicard Hollow Athletic Complex. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m.
