Women’s Soccer and Montevallo Tie in GSC Match

LIVINGSTON, Ala. - West Alabama women's soccer team and Montevallo ended the match in a 0-0 tie after a scoreless second overtime period Sunday afternoon at Tiger Stadium.

West Alabama is now 7-2-2 overall and 5-1-1 in GSC play. Montevallo is now 6-5-1 and 2-5-1 in the conference.

The Tigers logged the first three shots of the match. The first shot was a shot on goal by Megan Ongteco which was saved by the Falcons goalkeeper. Kaylah Butterworth and Lucy Critchell took the other two. 

UWA outshot Montevallo 13-12, but both teams had three shots on goal. 

Neither could team could score in the regulation match, resulting in a 0-0 tie. 

Both teams had opportunities and fought hard in both overtimes, but it was kept a scoreless match, ending in a 0-0 tie.

The Tigers' goalie Tabitha Weldon recorded three saves in her 90 minutes of action. The Falcon's goalkeeper Angel Hailey also recorded three saves. 

20 fouls were called between the Tigers and the Falcons. Each team was called for 10.

West Alabama begins a two-match weekend series in Georgia starting Ocotber 22. The Tigers battle Valdosta State Friday, Oct. 22 at 6 p.m. then play West Georgia Sunday, Oct. 24 at noon.
