PENSACOLA, Fla. – The West Alabama team fell to West Florida in a 3-0 (25-15, 25-10, 25-19) sweep on Saturday afternoon to close out weekend play.
The Tigers fell victim to errors, falling behind in every set and hitting at just .000 on the afternoon. Junior outside hitter Nathalia Medeiros led all UWA players with six kills. Beatriz Giordan had five and Madison Fisher had four.
Defensively, MacKenzie Wells was just one shy of a match-high with seven digs. Desiree Blount and Fisher had five and four, respectively. Medeiros, Giordan, and Johanna Martin had two blocks each.
UWA is now 0-11 on the season and 0-5 in the Gulf South Conference. West Florida moves to 17-1 on the season and is undefeated in conference play with a 5-0 record.
Offensively, Tyler Fezzey led the Argonaut with nine kills and 16 total attacks. As a team, UWF had 44 kills with 85 total attacks for a .388 attack percentage.
Kierra Potts, Ashton Marshall, and Taylor Vaneekeren led the defense with eight digs each. Veresia Yon had a match-high of 7 block assists.
The Tigers will return to the court on Tuesday, Oct. 5, when they travel to Clinton, Miss. for a conference rematch against Mississippi College. The first serve is for 6 p.m.
