Volleyball Travels to Union

JACKSON, Tenn. – West Alabama volleyball team will travel to Jackson, Tenn. on Tuesday night for a Gulf South Conference showdown against Union University at 7 p.m. CT. The live stats and the live stream will be available on the Union athletic website.

 

West Alabama is 1-10 on the season in league play, and Union is 7-4 this year in the GSC. The Tigers sit at 11th in the conference standings while the Bulldogs are tied at fourth.

 

The Tigers are coming off a weekend at home, where they dropped a five-set match against Lee University on Friday and a four-set match versus Shorter on Saturday. UWA is currently 1-19, and Nathalia Medeiros leads the offense, averaging 2.54 kills per set.

 

West Alabama leads the all-time series with Union, 10-5, but has lost the last two. The two teams last met in spring 2021. The Bulldogs took the match 3-1.

 

Union, under the direction of the sixth-year head coach Darrin McClure, is 16-11 overall. Last weekend, the Bulldogs faced Auburn – Montgomery, and the University of West Florida, picking up the match against AUM in four and falling to UWF in three. Union's lead scorer is Emily Grace Calhoon, who averages 3.02 points per set.
