MONTEVALLO, Ala. - The West Alabama volleyball team took one set off the Falcons of Montevallo, but it was not enough to secure a late-season victory. On Friday evening, the Tigers fell in four sets (26-24, 10-25, 20-25, 24-25) inside Trustmark Arena.
Chyna Dixon led the UWA offense, putting up eight kills on 16 total attacks. The freshman setter also added two digs and three block assists in the effort.
Amelia Johnigan had seven kills, and three other Tigers had five; Madison Fisher, Beatriz Giordan, and Isabela Sarti.
Heading the West Alabama defense, Mackenzie Wells had a team-high 15 digs. Giordan added five block assists to round out the UWA defensive effort.
As a team, the Tigers had 38 kills on 127 swings for a .173 hitting percentage. They also had 35 assists, 16 block assists, and 55 digs.
Macy Martin led Montevallo's offense with 13 kills. She also led the Falcons in blocks with five. Evelina Teran had 18 digs to lead the defense.
Montevallo had 58 kills on 142 total attacks to record a .261 hitting percentage. UM also had 12 service aces, 18 block assists, and 67 digs.
The Tigers will be back in action for their final match of the season when they travel to Huntsville, Ala., to face Alabama – Huntsville. The season closer will kick off on Saturday, Nov. 13, inside Spragins Hall. First serves is set for 2 p.m.
