Tiger Game Day Information

THE SERIES
This is the sixth meeting between West Alabama and West Florida. The Tigers lead the series, 3-2. In their last competition, the Argos defeated UWA 48-37 during the 2019 season. West Alabama last played host to UWF in 2018 for a 45-7 victory.

WEST ALABAMA
The Tigers are 7-2 overall and 4-2 in conference play. Last week, West Alabama defeated North Greenville 31-14 for the first time in Tigerville to remain undefeated on the road for the 2021 season. This week, the Tigers popped back onto the AFCA Coaches Poll at No. 23 and rose to No. 21 in the D2Football.com Poll.

WEST FLORIDA
The Argos are 7-1 on the season and 4-1 in the Gulf South Conference. They are currently ranked No. 4 in the AFCA Coaches Poll and the D2Football.com Poll. West Florida comes to Livingston after defeating Mississippi College 63-28 last week.

COACH GILLILAND
Head Coach Brett Gilliland has been at the helm of the Tiger football program since 2014 and has amassed a 52-28 record. Gilliland is the winningest coach in UWA history and holds a 3-2 record against West Florida.

COACH SHINNICK
Head Coach Pete Shinnick is a veteran coach who has racked up a 143-93 record over his 19 years. Shinnick started the West Florida program five years ago and is 42-18 with the Argos. Against the Tigers, Shinnick is 2-3.

CHARLEY GLENN AWARD/MILITARY APPRECIATION
The West Alabama football program will celebrate Military Appreciation Day at Tiger Stadium Saturday with the pregame presentation of the Fourth-Annual Charley Glenn Award. Call Dyer, Robert Myers, and Montell Dent are the previous three winners of the award.

TWO AT HOME
Until the loss against Delta State on Saturday, Oct. 23, the Tigers had not lost two consecutive home games since Head Coach Brett Gilliland's first season at the helm of the program in 2014. Ironically, those back-to-back losses were also to Delta State and Valdosta State, and West Alabama has not lost three straight at home since 2007.

SNAP THE STREAK
A win over West Florida would give West Alabama its first victory at home since its historic 80-0 win over North American University in Week 3 of the season. While dropping its last two home games against Valdosta State and Delta State, the Tigers closed the 2021 regular season undefeated on the road.

PENSACOLA 2019: TIGERS 37, ARGOS 48
The Tigers edged out the Argos in offensive yards with 547 to UWFs 544. West Alabama was more productive on the ground, recording 202 rushing yards, while West Florida was better in the air with 443. In the effort, Jack McDaniels completed 30 passes for 345 yards, finding Tyriq Martin 11 times for 126 yards and one touchdown. Derrick Underwood led the team with 21 carries for 116 yards on the ground, and Demetrius Battle had eight carries for 24 yards and two touchdowns.

D-BLOCK BLOCKS THE RUSH
The Tiger defense leads the GSC in preventing the run game. UWA opponents have attempted 269 carries for 793 yards to average 2.9 yards a carry and 99.1 yards a game in eight games. The D-Block is 26th nationally. (Does not include North American game.)

PERMANENT CAPTAINS
The UWA football team has voted on permanent captains for the 2021 season, and they are as follows: LB Josh Hatcher, DB Shamar Lewis, DE Undraez Lilly, QB Jack McDaniels, and WR Bayley Blanchard.

SO YOU'RE SAYING THERE'S A CHANCE
With two games left, if the Tigers win against UWF and MC to close the season and conference-rival Valdosta wins out, West Alabama could earn its third playoff berth during the Gilliland era.

SENIOR DAY VS CHOCTAWS
Saturday, Nov. 13, the final home game of the season, will also be Senior Day for West Alabama. Twenty-three Tiger seniors will be honored in the pregame ceremonies or their contributions to UWA football. The kick-off against Mississippi College will be at 1 p.m.
