COLUMBUS, Miss. - The University of West Alabama women's soccer team got the spring season off on the right foot by defeating Mississippi University for Women, 3-0, Sunday.
The Tigers out shot the Owls, 11-2, and won the shots on goal battle, 7-1.
Brekel Tibbs scored her first goal of the season 14 minutes into the match off an assist from Lucy Horn. Anele Komani added a goal at the 39:39 mark.
At the 85:31 mark, Kaylah Butterworth scored off a penalty kick to give the Tigers the final margin.
Tabitha Weldon finished with a save in the victory.
West Alabama returns to action Feb. 14 in Cleveland, Mississippi to play Delta State at 2:30 p.m in the first Gulf Souith Conference game of the 2021 spring season.
